// the short answer

We watched 19 videos from 13 reviewers. Want the faster car? Turbo S: it wins the straight line eleven calls to two, and it's the one you can live with every day. Want the one that talks back? GT3: sharper front end, more feel, that 9,000-rpm flat-six, and handling goes its way seven calls to one.

Performance

911 Turbo wins11–2clear

Turbo S has significantly more torque and acceleration.

Where reviewers split. The real split is the lap time. Auto Express found the lighter GT3 "blew the turbo s away" on track and Autotrader's GT3 set a lap record at their circuit, but carwow's track race went to the Turbo S: the GT3's minimum speeds were higher all the way around, yet it "just can't overcome the horsepower." Tedward thinks a Turbo S on Cup 2 tires would run with a GT3. Coverage is thin in places. Value has no head-to-head calls at all, only per-car impressions, and fun is three calls, all for the GT3. TheTopher and TopherDrives are likely the same driver on two channels, so this is closer to twelve independent reviewers than thirteen. Some Turbo S evidence comes from the 992.2 car (Harry's garage), and one Autotrader GT3 call is from the GT3 Touring.

// the long version

“The 992.1 GT3 is a 9,000-rpm, naturally aspirated track car with license plates; the 992 Turbo S is an all-wheel-drive, twin-turbo grand tourer that happens to be faster in a straight line than almost anything.

The straight line isn't a debate. Eleven calls go to the Turbo S: TheTopher calls its speed "blistering," Autotrader says the GT3 "doesn't stand a chance" in a drag race, and Throttle House points at the Turbo's 590 lb-ft against an older engine with "less torque." Tedward goes further. The Turbo is "faster than a gt3" and "pretty much as capable in most scenarios."

The GT3 answers in the corners and through the wheel. Tedward points out it has a double-wishbone front end where the Turbo still runs MacPherson struts, and reviewers feel the difference: carwow found the GT3's front end "noticeably better than the turbos," Tedward says that in the Turbo "I don't have quite as much feel as I do in the GT3", Savagegeese found the Turbo "way softer than the gt3," and Steve Sutcliffe at Auto Express says the GT3 "feels less terrifying" when you're really leaning on it. On fun, Savagegeese would take the GT3 "10 out of 10 times."

What the GT3 costs you is everyday comfort. Daily use goes to the Turbo S five calls to none: quieter (Harry's garage measured 78 to 79 dB), "far more hospitable" (Autotrader), and, for Porsche Pulse, more cargo room, a smoother ride and better insulation. The Turbo S is the faster car; the GT3 is the one that rewards you for driving it.
