"this all potentially means that you could buy one of these for less than the asking price of a used GR Yaris or i20N. And those cars are substantially smaller and less equipped."

"Bear in mind, by the time this finished production, it was a £35,000 car, making all this sort of stuff just that little bit less forgivable. It's fine, it's just not great."

Performance

4.5/53 of 3 reviewersstrong consensus

In fact, the ST basically has more torque than everything this side of a BMW M135i X drive.

positive · ReDriven · ▶ 16:43

The headline figure, it's now 460 horsepower.

positive · JayEmm on Cars · ▶ 15:26

this is giving you a lot more power than the predecessor and a lot more talk too

Handling

4.5/53 of 3 reviewersstrong consensus

there's now an electronic limited slip differential fitted which really really has a significant effect on the handling

positive · Autogefuhl · ▶ 30:07

this diff is such a massive improvement over the previous Mark III. This thing, it just hooks up and rips you through a corner

positive · ReDriven · ▶ 9:05

Traction's great. W really pulls out of the bend.

Fun to drive

5.0/53 of 3 reviewersstrong consensus

Driving this honestly feels like Ford went and took all the best aspects of the previous Focus STS and Fiesta SS and even the Focus RS's and then made sort of a greatest hits compilation album

positive · ReDriven · ▶ 17:53

this is the first time i've really really enjoyed a manual gearbox since the m2 competition

positive · Autogefuhl · ▶ 32:28

I like this. I like this a heck of a lot.

Daily drivability

4.0/53 of 3 reviewersstrong consensus

add in all the sensible stuff that a normal Focus does so well, like it's easy to park and it's comfortable on a long trip and the ST just makes for a phenomenal package.

positive · ReDriven · ▶ 17:41

when you have this car in normal mode well it really does behave remarkably a lot like a focus

positive · Autogefuhl · ▶ 26:37

Boot space is pretty decent, and the car will do well over 30 MPG should you need it, meaning it's a relatively decent and practical thing.

at its price point which depending on your region comes in around about between 30 and 35 000 if you go with the optional extras... there are a lot of competitors at this price point but i still really think that this stands nicely out at the front of the pack
